Will you be up to the challenge ?
  • The ball of rats

Can you find it ? Tip : it is located under a gargoyle above a courtyard on the left side of the church (closed on sundays). The rats appear to come out of it.

The place

Located right beside the 1st district's town hall, which forms with the church a coherent architectural ensemble, Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois is associated with the bloody events of the night of Saint-Bartholomew.

During this night, on August 23rd-24th, 1572, its ringing bells are supposed to have given the signal that started the massacre of the Protestants by the Roman Catholics.
